Eli Matthew is Here!

Eli Matthew was born Tuesday, July 28th at 4:38am. 6lbs 10oz. 20 and 3/4 inches long. Everyone is doing well. More to come soon.

37 Weeks!

I will start by apologizing for this post being a week late. Things have been sort of crazy around here the past few weeks. I am now officially 37 weeks, and considered full term. The baby is more than welcome to come at anytime now! We have been having so much fun with baby showers over the past 2 weeks. I feel so blessed to have such great family and friends! I have had 3 more showers, and am so thankful for all of the great gifts. Baby Linstromberg is already spoiled and he/she is not even born yet. I think that Mel needs to go into buisness making diaper cakes! (see picture below)

Two weeks ago at 35 weeks I went back to see my specialist about the gestational diabetes. She wanted to do another ultrasound to measure the growth of the baby. At that time the baby's weight was 6 lbs 3oz and in the 65th percentile. The baby's abdomen, however, was measuring in the 81st percentile. Because of this the Doctor decided to start me on a drug called Metformin to help better regulate my blood sugar levels. I was very happy that I did not have to start with insulin shots. So far, so good with the glucose levels. I am very excited that I only have a few weeks to go. If I go the full 40 weeks I guess that means we are looking at about an 8lb baby.

Last week Ryan and I got to have a practice run to the hospital. Thursday I started having pain on my right side that got gradually worse as the day went on. By the time I got home from work I was really not feeling well. I tried all the normal methods of pain relief, and none worked. By 10pm I was in so much pain that I was not able to do much of anything. I was having sharp pain on my right side, back and leg. I did not feel like I was in labor, but the on-call Doctor suggested we go to the ER. Once at the hospital they took us up to the Labor and Delivery floor and started running several tests. It turned out that I had a "rip-roaring urinary tract infection" in the words of our doctor. They started me on an antibiotic and started giving me IV fluids. We ended up having to stay the whole night in the hospital. They would not let me go home because I was having greater than 8 contractions per hour (which I was not feeling because of the other pain) Finally at 5am Ryan and I went home and went to bed. Needless to say we did not make it to work on Friday. I am feeling much better now, and in a way the whole experience helped to ease my nerves about going to the hospital for the delivery. Now we know a little bit better about what to expect.

We are ready for Baby Linstromberg to make his/her arrival. I am sort of hoping that by the next post we will have a new baby!!! A special thanks to Mom, Mel, Nana Deb, The Linda's, and everyone at work for arranging 3 great showers! THANK YOU!!

34 Weeks!

Only 6 more weeks!!! In some ways it seems like my pregnancy has gone really fast, and sometimes it feels like that past 8 months have taken FOREVER! At this point Ryan and I are ready to hold and meet this baby. The past week I have started to have extreme amounts of swelling in my feet and ankles. I am not enjoying the cankles, but I have started wearing compression socks at work and it really seems to be helping.

Over the weekend Ryan, my mom, and I traveled down to Evansville, IN to see all of Ryan's family. I am not going to lie, the 7 hour car ride each way was not fun, but we had a great time. Our reason for the trip was a baby shower with Ryan's extended family, and it was so good to see everyone. I especially want to thank Ann, Kellie, and Lisa for planning an amazing shower. We got some great gifts for the baby, and I am so thankful to everyone for their generosity!
